WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM A PROFESSIONAL VALUATION ?
You may need a valuation for a whole variety of tax reasons such as:
- Connected Party Transactions
- Gifts of Shares
- Employee Share Options
- Inheritance Tax
- Capital Gains Tax
A third party valuation can also be useful for the purposes of conflict resolution, in particular in cases of:
- Divorce
- Shareholder Disputes
- Probate
WHY AN INDEPENDENT VALUATION ?
As with any valuation which may need to be justified, it is important that it has credibility. This is enhanced by independence and the professional qualifications of the valuer.
Thus whilst a “director’s valuation” may be enough for certain matters, a professional one will give extra gravitas, making it more robust in resisting challenge.
Independence is also important. A point to note is that a company’s accountants may not have the relevant degree of independence or they may have a conflict of interest in terms of a dispute or divorce.
WHY CHOOSE EQUITY VALUE ?
Our many years of experience in share valuations and accounting help to make Equity Value an excellent independent choice
for professional advice in this area. We are a totally independent professional firm, backed by the reputation and integrity of members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
We do not carry out audits, nor are we associated with an auditing firm and so we fall outside the Auditing Practices Board’s Ethical Standard 5.
